Course: Masters of Health Informatics

One can study and start working but knowledge growth does not end with studies. It has to be ongoing. It is vital to keep track of latest trends and development going on in different spheres related to health and to adopt to changing situations.

I have made it a practice to devote time to learn and stay abreast. The proposed course will give me structured training in professional health informatics methodologies, I am sure and it will certainly help in better healthcare delivery.

What I wish to study and why this program

Healthcare and computers are no longer divergent or parallel tracks. These two are intricately linked in a combination that leads to better healthcare delivery. I wish to take on the Masters of Health Informatics degree course to acquire professional and highest levels of skills in managing treatment with informatics.

This program offers everything I need to help me become more able in managing my activities and to achieve my professional goals. It will add another dimension to my skills and knowledge.

Why this university and this country

It is not easy to find a university that offers a course that is aligned with my interests and expectations and it is not easy to find a course that has topics I like. This university and its course offer me what I need in a flexible, advanced program. I have heard good things about this university and its certifications do hold value. Its students have gone on to become successful in life. I am sure I will benefit from the time I spend here, not only professionally, but also at a personal level.

The USA is a shining beacon of academic excellence, far ahead of any other country. What I like is the atmosphere of encouraging students to innovate, research and think. It is unlike other countries where degrees are awarded to candidates who pass exams.

The USA sets store by knowledge and expects students to contribute to knowledge pool. I like this system and I am sure my life will be enriched by my brief stay here.

Classes/projects

I have done extensive research on Dengue in 2019 as part of my studies and I have submitted the project to the college authorities. Thereafter I took up a case study.

Leadership/community experience

During my school days I took part in several cultural events. I worked as a TV anchor during my college days just to develop my personality and speaking skills. I have organized a team to run a cafetaria on the college premises. I am a good athlete too. I have taken part in sprint tournaments organized by my college and did well.

Values I bring to the institution

I am honest, believe in solving problems and I am good at communications. I like to get things organized and ensure that patients receive finest care. I am studious by nature when it comes to learning and yet gregarious in social life. I hope to enrich the institution by my contributions and to promote it afterwards when I am working, by recommending it to others.

Career goals and how this course will help

For the immediate future I hope to get into a position of responsibility in a public hospital in India and use my skills to update patient treatment and record handling process by incorporating informatics into the healthcare system.

For the long term I could become a supervisor in a large hospital but my leaning is towards setting up my own consulting clinic and also offer remote, online treatments.  This course will help me develop expertise in informatics as per the latest international trends and blend it with my training in healthcare.
