Admission SOP Example to Study MBA Finance in a Foreign University
Statement of Purpose
Ambition and drive are necessary and one must never give up, whatever the odds. I was born and brought up in Afghanistan, a country where life is difficult. I chose to pursue my Bachelor in Business Administration degree in Chattisgarh, India, because of the peace and stability in this country. Now that I have completed it I am looking to enhance my skill level and acquire an MBA, Finance, from …………………. University.
While pursuing the BBA degree I also took on the Chartered Accountants course and have the Association of Chartered Certified Accountant certification. It is only natural that I should go on to specialize in finance. The MBA course will be a feather in my cap and round off my education, making me ready to take on top positions in finance planning and projects. This project fits in with my career aspirations and I am sure it will give me the managerial skills to balance my financial skills and give me a competitive edge in my career. I wish to be an asset to whoever I work for and, in future, I hope to start my consultancy company. This program is invaluable.
Why this university and this country
I was looking for a university that primarily offered me the course of my choice. This university meets my criteria. Then I wanted to join a university acclaimed for excellence in education, a fine faculty, library and on-campus life. Here too, this university lives up to my expectations. Its degree hold value and graduates are doing well. What more can I want? That it happens to be located in a country known to lead in education, finance and research is a plus point and it will be time well spent.
Experience
I have worked as an Accountant Finance Officer for Baghdashat International Transport and Transit Company from February 2014 to September 2017. My responsibilities covered taking care of It based accounting program and processes, handling final accounts and budgeting. As Finance officer I had to ensure liquidity, cash flow and profitability while managing expenses. I did this to the satisfaction of my employers. However, I left in order to pursue a BBA at Chattisgarh.
Classes/projects
Apart from regular studies I joined and obtained the Association of Chartered Certified Accountant certification. I have passed the TOEFL IBT Test and I have also undergone oral communication classes.
Certification courses that have helped me in my career include the Organisation for Sustainable Aid in Afghanistan course, the Methodology and Basement of Teaching course from the Afghan Institute of Learning in May 2016 and the PC Pool Network Administrators program in June 2014.
I have taken on projects and I have won the Topic Writing Contest About Corruption conducted by the Woman Activities and Social Services Association in June 2013. I won an award from the PHD Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Konrad Adenaeur Chattisgharh institute for Facilitating Credits for MSMEs in Chattisgarh.
My pet project of which I am proud is the one in which I worked as Asylum Information Campaign Officer to put forward the case of Afghan nationals in India seeking asylum.
Leadership/community experience
Apart from leading a team in office I have worked outside to promote the campaign with the Government of India for grant of asylum status and citizenship to Afghan refugees. I worked in the community in Delhi and gained valuable insights into their plights and how lack of status inhibits their progress. For me this is an ongoing project.
Values I bring to the institution
I am deeply sensitive to human rights issues and economic condition of people in Afghanistan and Afghan refugees elsewhere. I have a burning desire to use my learning and skills to improve economic condition of people and promote small, medium and large enterprises that will provide livelihood. I bring with me this commitment to a cause along with dedication to pursue my path that will enable me to contribute meaningfully to my country and its people’s advancement.
Career goals and how this course will help
I hope one day to return to my country and to get into a government policy making post in which I can assist in developing frameworks for the country’s industrial and business growth. I may work in government and failing that, in private sector as a top cadre finance executive. Maybe ten years or so later I will be in a position to start my own consultancy and help Afghans to set up their businesses. This course will give me skills and knowledge I need to follow my path in life.
You are requested to kindly grant admission to me and for this I shall be very grateful to you.
