Example of SOP for Data Analytics program in American Universities
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The world, as we know it, is moving towards an era where technology, digital processes, online networking and several other programs have much prominence. Businesses, ranging from the public to private sector, are now incorporating means to cope up with standards and necessities of the digital revolution. The IT sector is reportedly the most thriving industry of my home-country, currently, and the range of opportunities it is opening for aspirants like me is immeasurable. My wish to pursue higher studies in IT (ADA) stems from the fact that we are living in a highly competitive and digitalizing world. Not only are we required to inherit social knowledge and commercial knowledge/capabilities, but also a profound skill-set of computer science, information technology and digital networking systems, in order to bridge the gaps between society and new-age science. For instance, with the pressing need for ecological sustenance, amidst a rampantly urbanizing environment, IT can certainly provide intense and efficient solutions for innovative and sustainable designs.
Why ADA (Advanced Data Analytics)?
Advanced Data Analytics provides an edge for businesses and process requirements, because it trains individuals to analyze business information and resource materials, to come up with advanced solutions that would eventually make critical processes, like decision-making or policy-framing highly effective/efficient. The network of business (in global terms) is unimaginably massive and it’s highly evident that firms are on the constant look-out for advanced solutions. So, with the abundance of such organizations and the stealthy requirement of capable individuals who are well-versed and experienced in IT processes, it makes sense for me to pursue higher studies in ADA and establish a career in the overall field. Also, my practical skill-set inherited from my engineering-academic career, alongside specific computer science projects, that I have been a part of, equips me well-enough to devote myself in the aforementioned discipline and thrive through without hindrances.
Why the University of North Texas
My preference for the aforementioned university stems from a dedicated time-period of research on universities across the world, with respect to the places/countries they belong to. It was quite a task to short-list the best ones, but after having decided upon them, I particularly got fascinated and interested by the programmes offered by the University of North Texas. The department bears a good reputation amongst the professionals I had personally consulted with, including alumni from the same university. The faculty meets every standard requirement for top-grade education facilities and harmonious learning. Hence, my preference for the university comes from research, networks, knowledge and appreciation.
Why the USA?
The USA is inevitably the best place to study courses pertaining to IT and the discipline of Data Analytics as a whole. The States is recognized for the incredible rise of the digital revolution. The advent of the computer, internet, social networks and overall innovative capability of information technology has globalized itself immeasurably, moving the pace of progress ahead for every other country in the world. Giants in the field, ranging from Apple to Microsoft, Amazon and more have originated in the USA. In-fact the Silicon Valley is based there, and is undoubtedly the Grand Canyon of the digital revolution. With that being said, I believe it is the best choice to visit the USA for higher studies in the aforementioned course, not merely for educational facilities but also for the allowance of field-based work/opportunities that I would be able to conduct/pursue in person, during my time there. This is an aspect unique to the States and would not be present in other countries.
Classes/ Projects
My undergraduate course comprises subjects in Mechanical Engineering. However, my interest to pursue higher studies in the IT department comes from the specific projects that I have been a part of. I have a diploma certification in Cyber Security. It can be well-acknowledged that cyber security is a major concern for anyone, ranging from the government to private and domestic firms. I would be able to contribute effectively to particular businesses or general work processes in the aforementioned discipline with the contribution of advanced security, which I learned from my time at the diploma course. I also have a certification in Wind Energy. Sustainability is of utmost priority in today’s world, and with such certifications and knowledge, I would definitely thrive to create processes that speak for humane progress and the sustainability of our planet too.
Another project included the simulation and hardware configuration of Solar Powered Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer For Electric Vehicle. It addresses the concern of carbon footprint whilst creating a design for sustainable and fast-paced development. It is a solution that leads towards engineering marvels when given dedicated priority (importance). With such practical skill-sets and knowledge, I believe I could manifest ideas and create solution-based digital technologies that would lead to marvels in the IT sector as well. I am also formally certified in diploma courses of PLC and SCADA (equipping me with adamant software and hardware knowledge in computer science).
Experiences
I participated in a Hackathon event, where the ultimate goal was to reach or create a functional hardware/software system from a wide range of computer engineering/programming done by a mass of participants. The experience was fun and conscious-opening too. My membership in an eco-cub heightened my sense of climate activism and made me conscious of the environment, which is why I tend to place an objective of creating sustainable solutions whilst providing solutions. I have first-hand experience of indulging in an active work-environment during my six-month internship period at Accord Power Conservation Pvt Ltd, where I received industrial training.
Leadership/Community experience
My experience in leadership comes from my time as a school and diploma course student, respectively. During school I was elected as the house captain (amongst four different houses) for two consecutive years and class representative for the diploma course/class for three consecutive years. As for community experience, my experience in the eco-club as well as the hackathon event trained me with community values and taught me the importance of teamwork and community-building processes. A collective effort is far more fruitful and less stressful than individual ones, apart from exceptional cases. With such learning I would be able to devote myself in collective efforts for the aforementioned discipline which I am opting for as well.
My Values
My values are inclusive when it comes to community-building and eco-conscious driven when it comes to innovation. I also wish to bridge interdisciplinary gaps between worthy subjects to bring out understandings hitherto unacknowledged. For instance, my knowledge in the computer sciences/IT along with engineering would indeed serve effective ideas to bridge gaps in urban development processes. Businesses concerned with the field of urban design or sustainable production of commodities look out for effective solutions, which could only be delivered from a profound knowledge and experience in ADA (Advanced Data Analytics).
Career Goals
My goal is to establish myself in a field that speaks for the future, which is why I developed my interest in the aforementioned field. In order to help an array of emerging businesses, human-centric processes and community based efforts. My goal is set-in-place to learn, in utter depth, about the digitalization of this era, so that I could address the gaps between conventional understandings with new-age progressive innovations.
