STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
In today’s world, wherein we’re all witnessing the vehement pace of the Digital Revolution, the need for Information Systems is a must. Professionals in the field are constantly required to incorporate varied processes, functions, technology and people, to render tasks involved with Information Technology. The need for IT professionals is also on a high-rise in every sector (both public and private). Businesses and organizations of every form seek out an edge in the digital platform to cope up with rising competitions and live up to the current standards of innovation.
Firstly, I would like to draw upon my academic pursuits that primarily motivate me and set my career goals for pursuing higher education in the aforementioned field. I did my graduation in Electronics and Communication Engineering, a field that has remarkably welcomed the innovations of the IT sector currently. I completed different diploma courses and received formal certifications in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Foundations, Python and Mainframe Operations Certificate from DXC Technology. Such educational ventures have well-equipped me with the knowledge-base and skill-set required to pursue higher studies in the aforementioned discipline. I shall further elaborate on my achievements and projects underneath, ones that add towards my experiences with Information System and Technology
The USA holds the torch of progress and innovation when it comes to fields like Computer Science and Information Technology. The leading tech giants of the world have emerged from the States, including the revolution of Social Media by Mark Zuckerberg. Silicon Valley, known for experimenting and developing new-age technologies, is established there. Every student of this discipline should have a chance to witness such places, through field-visits and expand their expanse of knowledge, as well as learn new ways which they probably couldn’t from other countries. Such factors make the USA an inevitably appropriate place to study such disciplines; ones that pertain towards the broader field of Computer Science Education.
This university adequately suffices the needs of aspirant students/academics who set forth to learn and grow in the field/profession. I have come across the course-structure and the range of unique educational facilities it provides. I have also learned about the faculty from the university’s alumni, stating that the process of learning is transparent and self-reflective. The university is indeed the place where I can excel in the discipline.
I did a project on Smart Garbage Monitoring and Air Pollution Controlling System. The article on it was in-fact published by IAEME Publication. Monitoring of garbage level isn’t sufficient enough to make the city cleaner and odor free, but also free from harmful gasses. If the level of the garbage bin remains below threshold value for a longer period, it creates a stench/smell, becoming unhygienic to people living nearby. To avoid this, we need to monitor gasses generated by the garbage bin itself. One of the objectives of this design was to develop a sensing unit at the garbage bin, which is battery operated, so that it can be portable and easy to connect.
I did another project on Smart Glove for Visually Challenged Using Near Field Communication (NFC) Technology. I have developed smart gloves using an ultrasonic sensor and vibrator that sounds an alert in case of any obstacles detected on their way. It is very useful for visually challenged people. Additionally, it sends messages along with the current location to their family members in case of any emergency, with the help of GSM and GPS modules. One other noteworthy project was on the development of Automatic Power Management System with Visitor Counting in seminar halls.
I have a great deal of experience, working in active work-environments. I completed a one-month internship in Kwality Photonics Pvt. Ltd. I was involved in the design and manufacturing of various electronic devices like LED displays. My role was to design a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) and send it to production. I have also done a one-month internship at E.C.I.L (Electronics Corporation of India Limited), where I designed a modern-based Traffic Light Control (TLC) system to manage road-traffic. The approach was by controlling the access to areas shared among multiple intersections and allocating effective time between various users; during peak and off-peak hours.
I have been working with a company named DXC Technology India Private Limited, based in Hyderabad, India. My designation here is Associate Professional Software Engineer. I play the role of a Mainframe Developer. WIth a current experience of 1.8 years, I have gained the experience of designing and coding in accordance with technical specifications, peer reviewing of code changes and bug fixes, writing up unit test cases documentation, working with the task coordinator on-site to get the task completed, addressing defects and providing support until the module is released into production.
I have gained leadership and community experience working as an employee, alongside teams to address prevalent issues. I have learned the values of collective effort, inclusive ideologies and the necessity of community-building values. I received the Collaborators Award from DXC Technology for being a great team player. I was also a part of Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp Program organized by Entrepreneur Development Institute of India (EDII) Gujarat on 28th July, 2016, where I was able to heighten my knowledge on community growth and development, through emerging business/start-up goals. Social responsibility was a keen takeaway from the camp. So, I stand for inclusive values that help in building and unifying a stronger community. Furthermore, I believe in development that moves humanity ahead as well as protecting the environment we live in. So, while we turn towards a world of convenience and digitization, my value stands for sustainability of our ecology without which we could never thrive as a species. This can be achieved by bridging the gaps of anthropocentric and digital processes/development.
India is moving ahead to place its mark in the world as a leader in IT infrastructure. The country is formulating one whole data-intensive economy. Henceforth, the need for professionals in the aforementioned discipline is rising across several avenues. Considering my interest and the scope of Information System and Technology, I believe I will be able to contribute significantly with my endeavor/research. With my varied practical skill-sets of Python, JCL (Job Control Language), COBOL (Common Business-Oriented Language), ServiceNow and IBM-MAINFRAMES, I sincerely believe in growing as an enthusiast in the field/discipline and contribute remarkably towards the sectors that seek an edge in growth and development.
