Business Analytics is rapidly expanding with the potential to revolutionize almost any industry. Across the world, businesses are leveraging the power of Business Analytics to gain valuable insights that are driving their strategies and decisions. With the help of sophisticated algorithms, Business Analytics is able to reveal hidden patterns and trends, as well as provide predictions that can prove invaluable for successful decision-making. Furthermore, Business Analytics can also be used to monitor precise details in various operations, such as inventory and customer services, which can lead to increased efficiency, cost savings and better customer satisfaction.
Knowledge must be updated with the pace of time. It is what helps people to get good jobs and lead satisfactory lives. There are people who stick to one narrow path and go on to become specialists in their field. Then there are people who like to spread their knowledge vertically and horizontally so as to be better empowered and more knowledgeable to work in a variety of environments. To this I must also add that if one works in an area of interest then one can do much better. I am studying electronics and communications engineering and have been more drawn towards Business Analytics. I feel this is where my future is and, therefore, I would like to become a specialist in Business Analytics through this proposed course from the Boston University.
What I wish to study and why this program
Data drives business. It is at the core of crucial decision making not only in business but also in healthcare, agriculture and other activities. Analyzing data just right is what will lead to derivation of the information needed to drive decision making in the right direction. I would like to pursue the Business Analytics course at Boston University. I would like to learn more about database management, Business Analysis using a variety of tools and techniques and the use of artificial intelligence and ML.
This program suits me since I do not have a background in computer science or data science. It starts with a good grounding in the fundamentals of Business Analysis and then teaches students advanced concepts. The course curriculum covers the essential topics and then lets students choose electives in which to specialize. Theory is mixed with practical project work. It is possible I may gain placement as an intern to work in real life environment and thus be prepared to face challenges at work.
Why this university and this country
The Boston University is one of the oldest and respected educational institutions in America and it is known for its focus on excellence in teaching students systematically and methodically. Students learn from well respected members of the faculty. They have access to libraries and labs. The campus is vast and it is a space where students learn and also interact with each other irrespective of creed or community. It will be a privilege for me to graduate from Boston University.
America is the best place for higher education. I have talked with students who have studied in other countries and also with students who have studies in America. There is a day and night different in their skills and capabilities. Those who have had the good fortune to study in America stand out as being better informed and more knowledgeable. I believe it is the environment and the way education is imparted here that is responsible. After all, one does not have time to experiment. If one has to learn, then one should study in the right country and in the best institution. America is the right country and it is home to revered institutions of higher learning.
Experience
I am pursuing full time studies and will graduate in 2023. So far, my work experience is limited to voluntary work that I have done for the 2022 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Sustainable Energy and Future Electric Transportation. I am also a member of the committee of the IEEE student body. We organize and manage technical and non-technical events in the college, touching upon culture, community service and quizzes. We also conduct training for weaker students to bring them up to speed.
Classes/projects
The first project I did was Smart Gardening Using IoT. The goal is to conserve water and yet ensure that plants do not wither due to lack of water. I used an IoT sensor to sense moisture content and control watering.
My major project was Detection of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease and other lung diseases using ML.
Right throughout my college days I made it a point to take on extra courses to learn more about computing. I have a certificate from NPTEL, IIT, Madras on The Joy of Computing using Python. I also have a certificate on Internet of Things from NPTEL, IIT, Kharagpur.
I have taken part in workshops on cyber security, IoT and the use of blockchain technologies.
Leadership/community experience
I have an unwavering desire to accomplish something in life. My current goal is to become a Business Analyst and go on to work and attain high levels of success. I will study and do my best at this institution.
I play cricket and am a team member of the college cricket team. We won the inter-college cricket championship. I am also a boxer. I also play volleyball and have taken part in college tournaments. I also swim because I like to stay fit since fitness enables me to concentrate on studies.
The pandemic did bring regular college studies to a halt. I used the time at my disposal to engage in voluntary work to serve people who were affected economically or otherwise.
Career goals and how this course will help
After the completion of the course, I shall return to India and seek a job as a Business Analyst in top international companies like Deloitte or Accenture. Business Analytics is much in demand and the demand is not going to abate any time soon considering that business relies on data to provide pivotal inputs for decision making. Indian businesses are growing and adapting modern technologies and there will be no lack of jobs. I am sure I will play a key role when I start in a junior position and then climb up the levels to become chief Business Analyst or head of the department. I will love to do what comes naturally to me and I am sure to excel and advance rapidly in my career. My success will all be due to this course.
