Dear Sir
I am writing this letter with a request for a study visa so that I can pursue post graduation studies in Project Management at Sault College. I already have a BBA from Kalinga University in Raipur, Chattisgarh. I have ample work experience in various enterprises and at various positions, the last two being in the hospitality marketing sector. I feel specialisation in Project Management will be of immense benefit to me to pursue higher positions of responsibility.
I am ……………… and I live in ……….. My father has passed away. Me and my mom are living with my paternal uncle who has construction business. Ours is a joint family. I got married in 2020. My wife will be living with my mom here in India, when I go to Canada for studies.
In my professional life, I have reached a stage where I would need to show better skills and qualifications to climb up the ladder and attain positions of leadership and responsibility. This is the chief reason why I am taking a break to obtain a post graduation. I have chosen Project Management since marketing and sales are usually taken up on a project basis and a team handles the project under the guidance of a project manager. As matters stand, I worked as a senior, in charge of a team, but I feel I can do my job better with a project management degree under my belt.
Experience so far
I started work in 2010 at Virtuous Security and Facility Management as a trainee and went on to become a sales coordinator in 2012 and then Sales and Marketing Executive from February 2012 to April 2013 during which time I led a team focusing on market research, sales campaigns, sales network development and digital marketing.
To acquire professional knowledge I joined a BBA course in 2013 and completed it in 2016. Then I again joined job to earn practical knowledge.
I worked at Ikon Staffing Solutions as a Business Development Executive. I was tasked with identifying, qualifying and converting business opportunities. I developed business relations, served customers and created new sales channels during my tenure leading to improvement in revenues.
From Ikon I went on to join ITS WelcomeHotel, Dwarka as a Banquet Sales executive. My duties covered sales generation by organizing business conferences and banquets, offering consultancy and coming up with new project ideas to maximize revenues and space utilization.
A better offer came my way from Hotel Seven Seas in New Delhi and I joined as Assistant Manager-Sales. Here I had broader responsibilities of handling occupancy, developing travel agent chains and new business channels. I led the team in representing the Hotel at several exhibitions and drew up as well as implemented marketing plans. There was a net overall increase in occupancy and revenues.
A more challenging opportunity came my way from Choko La where I became their Guest Relations Manager and was the go to person for customer interaction and for drawing up various sales and loyalty programs besides leading a team and keeping management updated.
Why Sault College and Canada
My last three jobs gave me a thorough grounding in sales, underlined the importance of projects and showed me deficiencies in my capabilities to draw up, handle and manage projects. I choose Sault College because it offers courseware and teaching methods that will fill these gaps and make me more “complete” and capable. Sault College’s certification has value and it is accepted in industry circles. Canada is a fine country with a welcoming nature, especially welcoming students and it is known for its peaceful atmosphere, low rate of crime and high rate of safety.
Financials
I am living with my paternal uncle’s family ever since I got a job. My father passed away and my mother is a housewife. My paternal uncle is taking care of all my expenses of study and living in Canada. We are an affluent join family. My uncle is into construction business which is valued at CAD______________. The current market value of our immovable property including the house and the office is CAD____________
I have obtained admission for which I have paid CAD _____ and I have deposited GIC CAD ________. I must emphasize that we have very close family ties and ours is an orthodox family. I have my mother to take care of and we have our own home as well as a strong community. I see quite immense possibilities in India with the government strongly promoting business ventures. I feel that my additional degree will get me into a challenging and responsible position.
Future plans
My short term goal is to get into a responsible senior position as a Team Leader or Project Manager that will help me to earn and take care of my family. My long term goal is to stay with the hospitality industry and eventually start my project consultancy service to help startups operate in hospitality sector. When I am my boss I can take decisions and use my education and experience to the fullest.
It will also give me happiness to help entrepreneurs and be instrumental in improving economy of India. I do not think I would get the same kind of opportunities or the feeling of family life in any other country. Please rest assured that I definitely have plans for my future in India and do not intend to stay back in Canada. After the completion of my course, I will come back to India to join my mom and wife. We all stay together with my paternal uncle. I like India’s warm climate, colors, and our culture. I am going to Canada only to acquire world-class education which will help me in my career in India.
