The world of Biotechnology fascinates me. In a world, where technologies are constantly challenged by nature, Biotechnology paves the way for a prosperous future for mankind. And I aspire to devote myself in the quest of the latest knowledge of Biotechnology for a progressive change.

My family and me

We live in ————————– and I have completed my BSc in Botany and Biotechnology from the University of Kerala. My father …………….. is a senior level professional and my mother …………. is a home maker, looking after the family. I am working in the billing section of ———————- since November 2020 but this is a stop gap job. My career goal is to become a biotechnologist. I already have a Bachelors in biotechnology and intend to specialise by obtaining the MSc in biotechnology from this university.

Name of course and why I choose it

Even when I was in school I followed with total fascination development of the rat genome database and then steered towards stem cell research. Both offer fascinating insights into the future of human health at the core of which is modern biotechnology. One can splice genes and develop remedies (as is so evident in the current Covid vaccine technologies) to benefit human kind. I hope to be able to do something similar for mankind in future for which I am looking at the MSc in Biotechnology course.

I see immense possibilities in tissue culture as the most economic way for development of pharmaceuticals that can reach even the poorest on a mass scale. This is one of the driving reasons that compel me to pursue advanced studies in Biotechnology. My country needs people like me to support its massive healthcare program. This program is the perfect fit for my aspirations in life. It offers precisely the topics and curriculum in which I aim to become expert. I like the course for its flexibility and for incorporating current, state-of-art technologies in this field.

Why I choose this university

There are dozens of universities to choose from but none matches what the University of Westminster offers. From faculty to amenities to campus life, this university is a different world, a world in which I hope to thrive, knowledge-wise and from the perspective of personal growth. I will emerge a much better skilled and knowledgeable person capable of taking on real life challenges.

Why UK for studies

The UK has nurtured many legends in the world of scholarly studies as well as research. The UK is where these venerable institutions are located and for me, to be able to study at Westminster would be a special privilege. That I will acquire knowledge is one thing but that I will be in the hallowed halls of this much respected institution in the UK is certainly a defining period in life. I do have a special place in my heart for the UK and, much as American can boast of excellent educational system or that Australia welcomes students I would prefer the UK for higher education. It is not just courseware but other things such as culture, manners, way of speaking and living that are of equal importance for me.

UK incorporates latest advances in technologies into study curriculum but in India we do not have the same level of progress. This lag is simply unacceptable when I will work  for pharmaceutical companies employing cutting edge biotechnologies.

What is the career outcome and what are your future plans after you complete this program?

My wish is to dedicate my life to development of life-saving drugs using the latest in biotechnology.  My country needs me and I will certainly take up a senior position in a leading pharmaceuticals company and work intensively on research and development. Maybe ten years or so later I may even set up my own company in India and work for improvement of health of our people. This course will give me power, strength and skills to take on that challenge.
