Your Ottawa office conveyed a refusal to grant me the student permit by their letter of ……………. Certain grounds are stated and I am asked to reapply if I can resolve the queries. I believe the decision was hasty and did not delve into details. I am now explaining in greater detail, giving answers to the queries and providing full clarifications so that you have a clear picture and you can grant me the student permit. At the outset I would like to put on record that I have no intention whatsoever of staying over once the course at Lasalle is completed.
I have a valid admission offer from Lasalle for the course in 2D/3D animation and I have paid the statutory tuition fee of CAD 19498 and have deposited GIC of CAD 10000. Please note that this is from my own funds, not through loan or third party sources.
The grounds for refusal by the Ottawa office:
- I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay……………………………………………………………………..

I furnish detailed clarifications to the above to support my contention that I shall return to India once the course is over and show that the proposed course aligns with my past studies, present work and future career goal.
I am in a well-paying job in one of the most renowned film production houses in Bollywood – Yash Raj Films. It’s a dream for many to work in Yash Raj Films. And I am already working here.

Qualifications, previous studies
After my higher secondary education at the …………… College I had the option of going in for regular degree course or exploring another avenue. I chose to go for Diploma in Digital Media from …………… School. I completed this course in 2013. I attach a certificate issued by the said FX School.

I learnt and became capable in software like Maya, Mari, Nuke, Photoshop, and Zbrush, all of which relate to 2D/3D animation and rendering.
Thereafter I practised and gained expertise in Texture Painting and Look Development (known as lookdev in industry terms). Meanwhile, the school where I studied assisted me to gain a placement at Dhaivat Films as a modeling and texturing artist. The said firm specializes in architectural simulations and visualization that starts with 2D draft, 3D modeling and then rendering. My job was to take care of texturing and developing a unique look for each project. There are other aspects such as AR, VR and 360 degree virtual experience with which I was not familiar.
Therafter I obtained a position as a junior texturing artist at Assemblage Entertainment. The company worked in production of CGI films and TV shows. I was involved with projects such as Blinky Bill, Norm of the North and Swan Princess, chiefly handling texturing. I worked here from January 2015 to October 2015.
My third position was with E-plus Technologies as a junior texturing artist from November 2015 to May 2016. I worked on international projects such as the game Fruit Ninja for Xbox One and Bottersnikes and Gumbles.
It was a step up to be chosen by Moving Picture Company where I worked from June 2016 to July 2017. I worked on international projects such as Pirates of the Caribbean Salazar’s Revenge, The Mummy, Ghost in the Shell, Fifty Shades of Grey2, Jumanji and Transformers-The Last Knight. Here, I came in touch with the owner of Beijing based Red Dragon Media. He offered me a position and I kept it in mind.
I climbed up to the position of Mid-texturing artist at Anibrain Digital Technologies and worked here from October 2017 to June 2018 where I was in charge of photorealistic texturing. I worked on projects for Netflix.
Meanwhile I got a call from Kenji IP, Chief operating officer of Red Dragon Media who asked if I would be interested to join them. I agreed and moved to Beijing and worked from September 2018 to December 2019. The studio works on creation of in-house feature films and I used Zbrush tool to deliver high resolution textures. Currently, I am working in Yash Raj Films.
I must explain that CGI has many components of which texturing and look development is but a small part. There is 2D and 3D modeling and animation, 360 degree virtual walkthroughs, AR and VR. I am not familiar with these and if I were I would have enjoyed a better position. Therefore I decided to take up the course at Lasalle in order to fill the gaps.
Missing Mark sheets, academic record
The course at FX school in Mumbai is the only official certification course I underwent. I attach a certificate and mark sheets showing my academic record, which is termed as being good, a reason why I was picked up by Dhaivat films.
I must point out here that Lasalle granted me admission based on my past academic record and mark sheet and my extensive work experience of seven years in the digital media field. I have been chosen as an employee by different companies based on my academic record and my work capabilities. I delivered results and have proven experience in the field of CGI. My only deficiency is that I do not have expertise in 3d modeling and animation and I hope to fill this lacuna through the course offered by Lasalle.
I have uploaded relevant mark sheets and am ready to furnish them again if so required.
Level of establishment
I have been working since 2014 and have progressed higher up the scale in my area of work, which is texturing artist, from a junior position to a mid-level position. What holds me back is my deficiency in 2D and 3D animation. Lasalle offers to fill this gap and the course also focuses on game development. Lasalle’s comprehensive course covers 2D and 3D drawing and modeling, game development and character and environment designing. La Salle will also focus on visual programming. The course has several modules like drawing, modeling, texturing, animation and game design. Each module uses a different software platform.
My current capabilities are limited to texturing and look development, which are a small portion of the overall process flow in CGI and gaming. The course will help me to become expert in creation of 2D and 3D assets, create environments and animate them.
The third semester of the course is on VR which only Lasalle provides. This will make me future ready since the future of gaming is virtual reality. It is a sad fact but schools in India do not have the same capabilities which is why I am going to such lengths and expense to pursue the course at Lasalle. Graduates of Lasalle are working in well known game developers like Epic games. However, my ultimate goal is to set up 3D animation studio and game development studio in Mumbai.
The future is augmented reality and virtual reality. If I have to work in this field I must have these capabilities and Lasalle will give me that capability. No other institution comes close.
I think over six years working with a restricted scope is like a dead end. If I do not do something now I will be stuck at this level until it is too late. I am making this decision to study at Lasalle to become better and more capable.
Language abilities
I have studied in the English medium. I do not have any issues of comprehension, reading, writing and expressing my thoughts. Throughout work the language used has always been English because the establishments I work for work for international organizations, mostly American. As such interactions involve use of English. I have been interacting with American clients with no issues about communication.
I can understand concerns about Indian students and their lack of language abilities. My case is different. I am familiar with English and interact in English with international clients of the firms for which I worked. I do not foresee any difficulty in understanding professors and instructors at Lasalle.

Financial ability
I can appreciate concerns of the Canadian government that many students slip through the net by showing upfront financial capability and then use ways to work and stay over in Canada. However, my case is different. My father is a cattle trader and we can claim to be financially well to do. I earn a handsome amount from my job and I have family savings to fall back on. It is my intention to focus purely on studies, attend classes and use spare time to learn even more.
As stated above I have already paid the tuition fee and deposited GIC from my own funds. I have not taken loan from the bank nor have I sought funds from anyone else. My family and I are fully capable of taking care of all tuition fees and expenses of stay in Canada for the duration of my studies. I have been working for over six years and have saved money. Besides, my father also earns handsomely and fully backs me in my decision to study at Lasalle.
I attach proof of my income, my family income and wealth in the form of IT returns, bank statement, CA valuation report and sponsor affidavit
My future prospects and plans
It is different with people in America where sons may go their way and have little touch with their parents. In India it is different. Even though I may be in Mumbai and my father in Amritsar, we maintain touch and keep getting together on family occasions. Therefore, my prime goal is to return to India, where, incidentally I grew up at my maternal uncle’s place. We do have strong emotional connections. Further, my point of view is that India is an emerging market and there is less competition as well as more growth, which is another convincing reason for me to return to India and start my own enterprise rather than seek work in USA or Beijing and stay an employee for ever. I have an independent spirit and my father is a businessman. I hope to emulate him.
Here in India I shall set up my own digital studio. We plan to work for entertainment industry, for TV and for advertising as well as streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime. I have industry contacts and it will be easy for me to get contracted work directly as well as through sub-contractors.
This work is steady and assures steady revenue flows. This will enable me to put my education at Lasalle to use to start my own game creation or to get work from game development companies.
I shall also explore option of using my CGI capabilities to help architects, governments and ecommerce companies with better visualization models and animation.
I have chosen Lasalle and Canada because of the specific course available here and not at any other institution. I can state convincingly and under oath that I am a bonafide student and that I shall return to India once I complete the course. I have no intention whatsoever of staying in Canada past the course period.
Bollywood is the world’s largest film industry. Canadian film industry is much smaller compared to Bollywood. I will surely not like to work in the Canadian Film industry leaving my Bollywood career. I am going to Canada just to learn some advanced skills.
I hope the foregoing explanations and clarifications shed more light on the matter and convince you of the authenticity of my application. Please do reconsider and grant the study permit. I shall be grateful.
