Subject: Statement of Purpose for Student Visa to pursue Post Graduate Diploma in Supply Chain and Logistics at Cape Breton University
Dear Sir/Madam,
With due respect and honour, I am reapplying for a student visa narrating all details about me that I might have missed in my previous SOP.
My earlier application for student visa made in June 2020 was rejected on grounds of the officer not being satisfied that I will leave Canada at the end of my studies and that my previous education does not prove adequate motivation to pursue the program which I intended to join at that time. I am resubmitting my request for student permit with fresh justification and I hope this time you will be convinced and will grant me the visa.
Earlier, I had applied for and obtained admission from the Langara College in Vancouver for the Post Graduate Diploma in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. I have now obtained admission in Cape Breton University and therefore I feel my application deserves reconsideration on this and other grounds as clarified herein below. I would like to reiterate that I certainly will return to India on completion of studies and will take up a job here besides looking after my family. I have no intention of staying over in Canada on completion of studies as with n overseas degree in supply chain, I will be able to bag lucrative job offers in India.
Experience
I have just completed my Bachelors of Commerce degree program in India. For me the most promising avenue at the moment and for the future is supply chain and logistics management. This is the reason why I have opted to pursue this particular course. I thought of working and then pursuing higher studies but I feel that the momentum would be lost. Therefore, I have decided to take on the course first and then get into a career. Supply side and logistics management students stand a better chance in India empowered with an overseas degree.
Why Cape Breton University and why Canada
I have chosen Canada over other countries because of its welcoming nature for students who seek to advance knowledge. I like the diversity of people and culture here and that it is a peaceful country conducive to studies. I would have studied in India but I find that there are no institutions that offer in-depth training and curriculum is not quite the same as is available at Cape Breton. I have decided to switch over to Cape Breton from Langor particularly because this course suits me and my career aspirations. An additional reason is that the intake for students at Cape Breton is scheduled for May 2021. I had to cancel Langor because of the visa refusal.
How my previous education is related to the course I am going to pursue:
There is no bachelor programme for supply chain management in India. To form the foundation of a master’s programme in Supply Chain, B. Com. (Bachelor in Commerce) is an ideal option. And I have completed it. During my B. Com, course, I have learnt about Business Management, Accountancy, Business Economics, Financial Accounting, Taxation, Company Laws and so on.
All these have given me a solid foundation to learn about the Supply Chain Management. A supply chain implies a network between an organization and all of its suppliers to distribute products to the end-users. Various activities, entities, laws, regulations, processes are involved. I have got the basic knowledge during my Bachelor in Commerce in India and I will learn the advanced level in Canada as per international standards.
Reasons for coming back to India –
My Future Prospects in India after the completion of the course:
There is quite a demand for qualified professionals in logistics in India and there are more opportunities to land a well-paying job that will help me to support my family even if it does entail hardship and expenses. Higher pay will help me recoup all expenses of foreign studies in just a few years.
At the same time I will be able to support my family in a better way. India has quite a few top level logistics Companies like Container Corporation of India, Aegis Logistics, Future Supply Chain, Mahindra Logistics and Adani Logistics to name a few. The average take home package for a qualified professional is Rs 800,000 per annum whereas an ordinary B.Com graduate makes a meager Rs 180,000 per annum.
My family Ties
My family comprises of my father who manages agriculture on our farm, my mother who stays at home and three elder sisters. All three sisters are happily married and well settled in India. I am the only son and it is my filial obligation to take care of my father and mother. My father expects me to take care of the lands. We are a family with strong bond and traditional values. I can never ever think of settling abroad leaving them here in India. I must have to come back to look after them and pursue a career in India.
Financials
My father runs his agricultural business and earnings are more than sufficient to take care of all costs of my studies and stay in Canada. Our annual income from our 3 acres of farmland is approx Rs 540000. The market value of the land that we possess is approximately Rs. 250 millions. It gives us a strong financial backup to meet any type of expenses in future. So far I have paid CAD 16527 for the tuition fee and I have taken a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) of CAD 10250 from Scotia Bank. My father will provide further for my fees and costs of stay. I need not take any loan or seek a job in Canada.
My future plan
My chief goal is to get into a well paying job in India and use my education to good purpose. I look for challenges in a responsible position. Logistics is challenging and promising too in terms of monetary return and job satisfaction. I hope to get a job in one of the better known top level logistics companies in India once I complete the course. In a decade or so I plan to study further and climb to senior managerial position. Better skills, more challenges and responsibilities will make it a fulfilling and rewarding life. At the same time, I can take better care of my parents and also my family when I start one. I have also long term plan to use our land mass for any project related to supply chain. This course in Canada will broaden my vision.
Please do consider my submissions and rest assured I shall certainly return to India. I have a commitment to my family, my country and a vision to use our 3 acres of land with some unique concepts.
Yours faithfully
