The best SOP example for MS in Computer Science from the USA
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Computer Science Education holds high relevance in today’s world. Every sector and business process, ranging from the public to the private sector is shifting towards IT, computer-aided design, information resources and software to cope up with the rising standards of the ongoing digital revolution. The competition is massive and firms all across the globe are on the constant look out for IT professionals, Computer Science scholars who can deliver high-graded solutions that speak for the profits of the organization, progress, development and sustainability of any environment. It is only evident that I pursue my higher education in Computer Science, primarily because of my experience and engagement in several projects that sought to innovate or thrust development in respective sectors, all of which has been elaborated underneath.
Apart from the fact that I am willing to indulge in a sector that’s bearing the torch of progress, it is my experience that further motivates me to strive and succeed in the discipline of Computer Science Education. Firstly, I have diploma certifications from COURSERA, CISCO and AWS, all for learning and excelling in cloud computing, information systems, software, programming and other subjects pertaining towards Computer Science Education. Secondly, I have been a part of projects to test my practical skills. One is Breast Cancer Prediction using ML, where I was able to apply my theoretical knowledge and hone my skill-set to use practical applications of whatever I learned. The experience was fruitful. Similarly, I have experience in developing AI Powered Student Assistance Chat-bot, where my efforts got published in an international conference hosted at Bengaluru. More about my projects will be discussed in the projects section. In summary, my desire to pursue higher studies in the aforementioned discipline stems, not merely from my experience in such projects, but also my success rates observed within them. It is my motivation to contribute similarly to higher platforms and make the world a better place to live in.
I learned about this university from online sources, amidst my research of universities across the world. However, my knowledge about the Computer Science department’s reputation came from an alumni whom I had known and consulted with. I was satisfied knowing about the faculty, their devotion to learning as well as imparting knowledge and most importantly, making sure that there is a sense of development in the students. Moreover, the facilities, infrastructure and educational provisions have collectively garnered my attention, which is why I decided to opt for the aforementioned university.
The USA is definitely the best place to pursue higher studies in Computer Science Education, because of the inception of what we may identify as the Digital Revolution. Companies such as Apple came to being in the US. Others followed, like Microsoft, Google and so on. Furthermore, the emergence of social media giants, like Facebook took place. Silicon Valley is also established there. Without a doubt, it’s safe to say that studying in the US would be better than any other country, because it has a history of emergence and expansion regarding the digital revolution. With such an opportunity, I would be able to witness such places on my own and deliver my practical skill-set with much more profundity, in contrast to me being in other nations.
Here are the projects that equip me with the appropriate set of knowledge and skills required to be a Master’s student in Computer Science Education.
First one is Breast Cancer Prediction using ML, where I indulged myself in software development using tools like Python (pandas, sklearn) and Logistic Regression. The second project is developing a Donor Registration Website using tools like HTML, CSS and JavaScript for Front-end and PHP for Backend processes. A WAMP server was used with the MySQL database. Again, by using WAMP and Botpress I indulged in another project for AI Powered Student Assistance Chat-bot. This was particularly interesting as it tested my practical skills to develop AI technology. The results were quite satisfying too. Another work in progress is Android Application for College Notifications. The final project I would like to mention here is Bamboo Classification and Mapping using Supervised Learning Techniques. The project was sponsored by the NESAC (North Eastern Space Application Center) Umiam, Megahalaya.
All of these projects are tied to a greater cause. If my success in these minor ventures can beneficially add towards the school of Computer Science, it is only evident that I will grow on to learn more and hone my skills to bring out the best potential, to further bridge the unrealized gaps in society and technology.
Apart from the experience of indulging in the aforementioned projects, I will further receive first-hand experience of working in an active work-environment. I am interning at Torry Harris Integrated Solutions (placement received via college) for a period of 3 months. I am confident about growing progressively in the field of Computer Science with such an opportunity. It would add toward my goals for accomplishing ahead, when it comes to the provision of digital solutions for society, firms, businesses, governmental processes, so on and forth.
I have been a part of college events, where the practice of organizing events, participating in team-based efforts and managing various tasks in a fast-paced environment has given me significant knowledge of community building. I have come to appreciate the value of collective efforts, including the strong essence of community and leadership.
I wish to devote myself entirely for the progress of humankind, with an acknowledgement of the world that we live in. In other words, my values shape my overall effort to work for the progression of human society, but not at the cost of destroying the very place we live in. So, as I work to create programs, software and digital solutions (including AI based) to address the issues of today, like diseases, urbanization and so on, I would also place simultaneous efforts to address carbon emission concerns if I could. My value shapes my effort to use computer science to provide previously unrealized solutions and make the world a better place.
My career goal is to become an IT and Data professional who would contribute greatly to firms associated with a noble/humanitarian cause. For instance, coming up with technologies that address the gaps and concerns of breast cancer. India, in-fact, is going through a rampant surge of digital innovation, with the emergence of numerous IT organizations working in varied fields/sectors. My goal is to become capable enough to meet the requirements of such firms and contribute towards the rising progress of my own nation, making the nation a worthy part of our entire global village.
